One of the reasons for visiting Hokkaido in winter when the temperatures can get down as low as -25°C is to photograph the beautiful and majestic Red Crowned Cranes which can be found there.Numbering a mere 1000 approx birds in Japan and only 2700+ in the world these birds are very much endangered, due mainly to habitat loss.A quite stunning sight to witness is the Dancing Courtship of these birds as they jump and call to each other in the snow.
